Mayhem Creek

I wanted to tell you that we sent Ma away in the style she wanted. We went up to the mountains, near the casinos, and found a wonderful creek, named aptly, the Mayhem Creek, up against the beautiful Rocky Mountains. We sprinkled Ma's ashes on the mountain, in the creek and in the air. We toasted her with Scotch and a few of her last cigarettes. We put pink rose petals in the water and spoke about the wonderful times she had and what a truly unique woman she was for the time she occupied. Ma was the first black to graduate from Mundeline Cathedral High School. While she did not graduate from college, she had an A.A. degree. She was the first black woman to supervise operators in Chicago for Illinois Bell. She was my drinking partner and buddy for almost 40 years. I will miss her but she has been freed from the restraints of earth and now soars among the spirits of our family and ancestors. Thank all of you for your support, prayers and concerns.
- Greg, her son
